WHAT IS SEEKERS CIRCLE Simply described, Seekers Circle is a a 501(c)(3) California non- profit, tax-exempt Religious Corporation operated by the United Wiccan Church to provide accurate and factual information on what Wicca is to the general public. Seekers Circle offers a variety of classes on weekends in four to six week sessions on many different types of Wiccan as well as various occult sciences. These classes will be of interest to a person wanting to learn more about Wicca or who is seeking a coven; or if already belonging to a coven, wishing to acquire more knowledge regarding other traditions. Seekers Circle is not only an opportunity for new students to meet teachers and members of other groups, but all can learn about different traditions and the differences in groups within those traditions. These classes may lead to anything from just an understanding of what Wicca is, to becoming a participant in the Religion of Wicca. Since its inception in 1985, Seekers Circle has had a class membership of over 350 people, and has formed, or is in the pro- cess of forming anther Seekers Circles in northern California and 2 in other states, and has been copied by at least two other independent groups (the sincerest form of flattery). In the winter of 1987, it became obvious that Seekers Circle had grown much larger than originally anticipated. In order to service both the Seeker and the Craft, it was found necessary that Seekers Circle undergo the process of change, as all things must do to evolve. FEES AND SEEKERS CIRCLE Before Seekers Circle's reorganization it had been their policy to provide these classes without any charge whatsoever. This noble experiment sadly failed when all of the financial burdens fell upon less than a dozen of the participants. A Law of Wicca states, "no one may charge for initiation or religious services." All of the board members and teachers of Seekers Circle AGREE. All religious services conducted by Seekers Circle will continue to be free, open events. However, as there is no "Law of Wicca" that excuses the individual from responsibility, Seekers Circle feels that the individual should carry their fair share of the costs of education, Wiccan or otherwise. A teacher should not have to risk personal bankruptcy in order to educate future generations of Wiccans. Therefore, to insure this education, in the future. There will be a nominal class fee of $7.00, for those financially able to afford it, and those who cannot may contribute through a work-study program. Seekers Circle is a non-profit tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and your contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. These fees are only to defray rent copying and out-of-pocket costs and will not be paid to the instructors, who continue to contribute freely of their time and knowledge. Seekers Circle will also conduct separate classes in the Occult Sciences. These classes will be of interest to the Wiccan as well as the general public and will cover the Tarot, Astrology, Magick, Comparative Religions, Crystal working and other related subjects, all of which will not be bound within the scope of strictly Wiccan education, but are also necessary to any well- rounded education. The costs of these classes will be between $15.00 and $20.00, with a portion of the fee going to the instructor and the remaining portion going to Seekers Circle in order to defray operation costs. If you feel that the class fees are abhorrent to your personal ethics, we can only offer the following reference guides to various pagan and Wiccan groups as further steps on your path and wish you: "Merry meet and merry part and may you always walk in the light of the Lady and grow to know the wisdom of the Lord."
