Excellent idea. In view of which I've sent the following to Mr True:
24 March, 1995
I understand the letter (quoted below) was sent by you to Daniel
Davidson. I would hope you would reconsider your actions in light of
the letters regarding this matter which you have surely recieved by
now. I would hope you've read those letters and done some research
into the whole Church of Scientology matter yourself.
From the research I've done as a journalist writing an article for
_Internet and Comms Today_ magazine here in the UK, I have reason to
believe that the charges made against Mr Davidson are if not outright
fraudulent, they are at least overblown and yet to be proven in court
cases against the many others the CoS has brought similar charges
Please do not act in haste. Restore Mr Davidson's privileges and let
the legal system judge the matter before you take further action.
There is an enormous amount of movement towards killing the First
Amendment in the States these days from the government all the way
down the chain to little local special interest groups. Somewhere
along that pro-censorship highway are the activities of the CoS.
Please, I urge you, do not be a party to it.
I make no claims pro or con with reference to the CoS. I only know
what my research has shown and that is that it is guilty at least of
being incredibly litiginous and intimidating to its enemies. Please,
don't help it in this way to intimidate a student or anyone else. The
courts are there for judging, let them do their job.
