Skeptic Tank!

Since some of the materials which describe the $cientology cult could be considered to be copywritten materials, I have censored myself and The Skeptic Tank by deleting any and all possible text files which describes the cult's hidden mythologies. I have elected to quote just a bit of the questionable text according to the "Fair Use" legal findings afforded to those who report. - Fredric L. Lines: 68 Message-ID: <3thnnn$> NNTP-Posting-Host: -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- whenever reading a book on scientology, the tendency is to compare it to _a piece of blue sky_ by jon atack, which is indeed the most complete book on scientology from an informational perspective. still, atack is a pretty dry writer, on the whole, and the interest in the book derives more from the subject matter than the writing. i had been led to believe that _the scandal of scientology_ was not as good a POBS, but on the whole, despite gaps in information caused by its publication date, i found it on the whole much more engaging and personable than atack. i believe the original publication was a paperback, and cooper, despite other reviews which have stated that she pulls punches, actually gives quite a decent accounting. true to the title, the book focuses on the juicy sex scandals, serial killers and lunatics who populate the history of scientology and its more bizarre offshoots like the process, giving just enough time to detailing the few known facts about noted murderous sociopath charles manson's membership in the cult, and the association of david 'son of sam' berkowitz's fling with the process. the book is full of anecdotes which reek of scandal, and recreates from personal memories a mosaic of what it might be like to get sucked into a vindictive cult like scientology in the first place. in fact, precisely by focusing on the 'lurid blood sex crimes' of scientology, and indeed which hubbard himself told his propaganda rats to accuse others of, _the scandal of scientology_ must have infuriated the very core of scientology management, because they knew that no book, however scandalous, could equal the accumulated weight of neros like l. ron hubbard and caligulas like david miscavige. it points out clearly why a corrupt, cynical organization run by petty tyrants and power-hungry snake-oil sleazeballs must perish, and indeed will. h FIX bayoNETS!
