23-Aug-87 14:29 MST Sb: APny 08/22 0022 NYS Briefs OVID, N.Y. (AP) -- A Minnesota couple, whose 20-year-old daughter, Kristen O'Connell, was murdered in upstate New York two years ago, have hired two Midwest psychics to seek clues to the killer's identity. The couple, Michael and Phyllis O'Connell, of Burnsville, Minn., returned to Seneca County last weekend with the psychics and retraced their daughter's steps in the days leading up to her death. "The information they have supplied us with thus far has provided a couple of very strong leads, and we hope this will be resolved within a short period of time," said Michael O'Connell, an executive with Pillsbury Co. in Minneapolis. Kristen O'Connell was visiting a friend in Ovid two summers ago, when, after a party Aug. 16, 1985, she went for a walk and never returned. Her nude body was discovered in a cornfield that same day. Her throat had been slashed. "We want this solved, and are always looking for something else we can do," O'Connell said. A reward of $1,200 is still being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the college sophomore's killer. The psychics, who asked not to be identified, said they have assisted several other police investigations. "The feelings and psychic impressions in this area are as strong as they were two years ago," one of them said after visiting several spots in the county. "My impression is that there are people who have substantial knowledge of this murder." Reports from the psychics will be reviewed with state police and Edward Beaufort-Cutner Investigations Inc., a private investigatins firm from Buffalo that is working on the case full-time, O'Connell said. State Police Investigator Fred Noyes said police are still interviewing people and have some leads. "This case is by no means closed," he said. Copyright 1987 by the Associated Press.
