LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- If the 1960s were the "Age of Aquarius," the mid-1980s
are the age of "Harmonic Convergence," according to the ancient calendars of the
Mayan and Aztec Indians.
The calendars say next Sunday is the beginning of Harmonic Convergence, which
actually is described by some as the Mayan version of the Age of Aquarius.
Harmonic Convergence is the conscious bonding of people to support an

The event has been predicted by the Maya, Incas, Tibetans, Hopi, Aztecs,
Navajo, Cherokee, Christians and Chinese, and is important astrologically. But

"The Aztecs of ancient Mexico were given a prophecy by one of the early
incarnations of their god of peace and wisdom, `Quetzalcoatl,"' the Human
Development Institute's newsletter reports. "The prophecy suggests this god of
peace and wisdom will reappear at the first dawning of the sun after the end of
their calendaric cycle."
Jose Arguelles of Boulder, Colo., an expert on Mayan spirituality, said the
